_ About CIFEJ
Vision & Mission
The International Centre of Films for Children and Young People – CIFEJ is an NGO active as the only global network of audiovisual professionals working for children and young people.
Established under the auspices of UNESCO in 1955, it is committed to advocating for children’s rights in audiovisual storytelling, while ensuring diverse cultural narratives in the context of children’s audiovisual media production and education.
With 70 years of experience in the field, CIFEJ has managed to collaborate with international networks and festivals, in order to promote the production and dissemination of films for children and young audiences, as well as to raise awareness about the importance of quality children’s film and media. It also supports media educators by organizing film and media workshops, facilitates multiple occasions of knowledge exchange and international networking, and hosts or participates in international fora and conferences. Since January 2025, CIFEJ’s Head Office is based in Athens, Greece, and is hosted by ΕΚΚΟΜΕΔ – Hellenic Film & Audiovisual Center.
